Folic Acid Tablets

Folic acid and methylcobalamin helps in remethylation of homocysteine. In this remethylation pathway a methyl group is transferred from methyltetrahydrofolate (MTHF), the active form of folic acid, to homocysteine. Thereby, homocysteine converted back to methionine. Folic acid supplementation offers effective fasting homocysteine reduction. But it did not affect post methionine load homocysteine levels significantly. Choline supplementation, in contrast to folic acid, reduces both fasting levels of homocysteine and after methionine load.
