extra clearance prevent stem scoring sufficient clearance between the gland & stuffing box prevents scoring of stem, stuffing box & gland bush.
a lantern ring shall be furnished if required by the customer.
the stem hole in the back seat bushing shall be designed with proper clearance to guide the stem and, when the back seat bushing supports the packing, prevent extrusion of the packing.
