    Fly ash bricks are made of fly ash, lime, gypsum and sand. These can be extensively used in all building constructional activities similar to that of common burnt clay bricks. The fly ash bricks are comparatively lighter in weight and stronger than common clay bricks. Since fly ash is being accumulated as waste material in large quantity near thermal power plants and creating serious environmental pollution problems, its utilisation as main raw material in the manufacture of bricks will not only create ample opportunities for its proper and useful disposal but also help in environmental pollution control to a greater extent in the surrounding areas of power plants. In view of superior quality and eco-friendly nature, and government support the demand for fly ash bricks has picked up.
    The regular size of fly ash bricks is 230 mm x 110 mm x 75 mm. Fly ash bricks of custom made thickness from 40mm to 75 mm on order.
    The compressive strength of fly ash bricks is in the range of 100-220 kgcm².
    The average drying shrinkage does not exceed 15% which is with limit as per is specifications.
    The water absorption of fly ash bricks is in the range of 13 to 15% i.e. Less than red burnt clay bricks. Thus, fly ash bricks masonry walls can be left unplastered. The exposed walls are highly aesthetic.
    Fly ash bricks have lower bulf density than red burnt clay bricks. This helps in minimizing the resultant load on load bearing walls. They are thus easier to handle. Lower weights of bricks helps in saving transportation costs
    mortar (1:6) of 10 mm thickness is required for masonry work. For plaster (1:6) mortar of only 8-10 mm thickness is needed.
    Fly ash bricks are resistant to water seepage

    Fly ash bricks are highly durable. Its strength increases with time.
    Fly ash bricks are available around the year unlike clay bricks, which are not manufactured during the monsoon period.
