What is Gun Drilling?
Gundrilling is a deep hole drilling process. The gun drilling process is able to drill deep holes beyond what is possible with conventional machinery and tooling such as twist drills, by using high-pressure coolant for clean chip exhaust, even at extreme depths.
It is the ideal process for a range of deep hole drilled depths and diameters. Extremely deep holes and small diameter holes utilize gun drilling with specific equipment to maintain straightness and precision. A gun drill tool differs from a conventional twist drill by its unique head geometry; a standard gun drill has a single effective cutting edge that removes chips as it advances into a metal workpiece.

Gun Drilling can be done in hole sizes from 0.060 in. dia. to 2.25 in. dia. in all materials and shapes. Standard and exotic materials can be handled. Capabilities include prototyping, CNC machining, large run production, honing, OD turning and grinding. Industries served to include aerospace, defence, mould and die, medical, oil, gas and power generation. Gun drilling materials from aluminium to zirconium including ceramics can be drilled and many more.
