I Beams

I-beams, also known as H-Beams have and I or H cross section. The horizontal elements of the “I” are flanges while the vertical element is the “web”. I-Beams are commonly made of structural steel but can be formed out of aluminum. I-beams are most widely used in construction and can have an application for use in both beams as well as columns.
