It is used to treat newly diagnosed philadelphia positive chronic myeloid leukemia, adult patients with ph+ acute lymphoblastic leukemia and myelodysplastic / myeloproliferative diseases. It is available in 100 / 400 mg doses. It is a protein-tyrosine kinase inhibitor.\rimatinib mesylate tablets acts by inhibiting the tyrosine kinase enzyme, and stops the proliferation of cell. No contraindication has been reported with this medication. Patients should be weighed and monitored regularly for signs and symptoms of fluid retention. Anti-epileptic drugs such as carbamazepine when given along with imatinib decreases the plasma concentration. Some of the side-effects of imatinib are nausea, muscle cramps, rash, musculoskeletal pain, joint pain, abdominal pain, nasopharyngitis, hemorrhage, etc.\r\rrecommended dose:\rdoses of 400 mg or 600 mg of imatinib capsule should be administered once daily.
