Irinotecan Hydrochloride Injection

Which is an antineoplastic agent that is used as a first-line therapy in combination with 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin for patients with metastatic carcinoma of the colon or rectum. It belongs to the class of the topoisomerase I inhibitors. Irinotecan hydrochloride injection acts by interacting with the topoisomerase I enzyme, and prevent religation of these single-strand breaks. Irinotecan injection is mostly given as a combination regimen with other chemotherapeutic agents.irinotecan hydrochloride injection is contraindicated in patients those who are hypersensitive to the drug or its excipients. Constipation, anorexia, mucositis, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, pain, fever, infection, and alopecia are the side-effects that may happen with irinotecan hydrochloride injection.
Recommended dose: irinotecan hydrochloride injection is administered as 125 mg/m² intravenous infusion over 90 minutes on the 1st ,8th ,15th and 22nd days followed by 2-week rest period.
