Mill scale is a thin, flaky layer of iron oxide that forms on the surface of hot-rolled steel when it is being manufactured. When steel is heated above 600°C and exposed to air, the surface reacts with oxygen and creates this dark, bluish-black coating

Uses of Mill Scale

1. Raw material for making iron in the blast furnace
2. Feedstock in direct reduced iron (DRI) plants
3. Production of ferroalloys
4. Cement manufacturing (as an additive for iron correction)
5. Briquetting into iron-rich pellets
6. Recycling in steel plants to reduce waste
