Iron pellets, which are officially 6–16 mm spheres, are utilised as raw materials in blast furnaces and DRI kilns. In the pelletising process, iron ore fines are mixed with binders, limestone, dolomite, and bentonite to produce a pellet, and then heated to turn them into hard spheres.
