jatamansi oil also popufarly known as spikenard oil is extracted by steam distillation of the dried rhizomes and roots of nardostachys graridiflord DC., responsibly harvested from the himalayan scrub lands of nepal.
Characumtks :

• Appearance - fluid to slighty viscous liquid.
• Color - Varies from amber to deep blue or greenish blue.
• Arcana - Heavy, sweet-woody and spicy animal odor.

Active constituents : Major compounds are nardostachnol, 6-aristonele, B-maallene, jatamarisone, narseychelanone, jatamol 3,7 gualadi ene as major components
Uses :

• Used in aromatherapy to relieve stress and tension.
• In perfumery such as oriental bases, heavy florals, woddy bases and hair care products.
