Lamivudine

Lamivudine (commonly known as 3TC) is an antiretroviral drug used to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS. It can also be used to treat chronic hepatitis B when no other medications are available. Lamivudine is effective against both HIV-1 and HIV-2. It is often used in combination with other antiretroviral drugs, such as zidovudine and abacavir. This drug can also be included in post-exposure prophylaxis to treat patients who may have been exposed to HIV. It is administered orally as a liquid or tablet.
