The "Leigh valve" is a medical device used in respiratory therapy, particularly in the treatment of patients with neuromuscular diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or muscular dystrophy. It is a type of one-way valve that is inserted into a tracheostomy tube or placed over an endotracheal tube. The Leigh valve allows air to flow into the patient's airway during inhalation but prevents air from escaping during exhalation.
