Levocarnitine Injection

As a nutrient widely existing in body tissue, L-carnitine is necessary for long-chain fatty acid metabolism to produce energy in human body. Deficiency of long-chain fatty acid will influence oxidation of free fatty acid in mitochondria. It will result in lipids gathering in cytoplasm without entering in tricarboxylic acid cycle, which will cause energy deficiency. Meanwhile, acetylcoenzyme A's accumulation in mitochondria is poisonous to cells.
[Physiological action] It promotes oxidation of mitochondria long-chain fatty acid and corpuscular fatty acid of peroxide. It promotes fatty acid flowing in cells as well as metabolism of branched chain amino acid. It promotes mitochondria acetyl COA/COA buffer pair to compose elimination system of acyl group. It maintains the stability of membrane.
[Applicable diseases] It is applicable for series of syndromes of chronic renal failure patients who undergoes chronic hemodialysis caused by deficiency of secondary carnitine. Clinical manifestations of them are myocardosis, skeletal muscle disease, arrhythmia, hyperlipemia, hypotension, myospasm during dialysis, etc. Recommended initial dose after hemodialysis is 10mg/kg-20mg/kg.
