Limestones

Limestones are hard, impermeable and compact rocks with very low water absorption. The surface texture is very fine grained and presents vary. Limestone is an important stone for masonry and architecture, vying with only granite and sandstone to be the most commonly used architectural stone. Limestone rocks are sedimentary rocks that are made from the mineral calcite, which came from the beds of evaporated seas and lakes and from sea animal shells. This rock is used in concrete and is an excellent building stone for humid regions.
