A point on the circumference of a circle is traced as the circle rolls along a straight line, the outside of a circular arc or the inside of a circle. The involute is generated by the locus of the end point of a straight line unwrapping itself from a cylinder. This equipment is part of a range designed to both demonstrate and experimentally confirm basic engineering principles.
