A chainmail armor used during the Roman Empire is termed as Lorica Hamata. The Roman Lorica Hamata is a sleeveless shirt that reaches about the length of mid-thigh and has alternating rows of 6 mm or 8mm riveted and solid rings. The square-bottomed U shoulder doubling is also stitched at the edge using leather. A row of rings is used along with back bottom edge to attach the doubling to the body.
