Mica Paper board is a reconstituted muscovite mica paper, which impregnated, bonded with heat resisting silicone resin. Mica Paper are pressed under heat and high pressure to form rigid sheets. Mica paper Board has good mechanical, electrical and thermal properties. It is hard and rigid, silver- brownish color. Mica Board withstand to 500°C continuous operating temperature. It occurs low smoke on initial heat first time. Applications are base and covers plates for elements for Toasters, Hair dryers, air heater, Electric Irons as well as many domestic appliances heating elements and are also used in Industrial applications.

It is also used to separate electrical conductors in cables that are designed to have a fire-resistance rating in order to provide circuit integrity. The idea is to keep the metal conductors from fusing in order to prevent a short circuit so that the cables remain operational during a fire, which can be important for applications such as emergency lighting.
Mica discs provides the best protection to spherical view port glasses and perfect visibility for checking the degree of combustion and liquid level in high pressure steam boilers.
Mica films are used in the manufacture of silver mica plates used in mica capacitors.
Small cut-mica sheets are effectively used as backing plate on both top and bottom sides of mica capacitors to give mechanical potency and inflexibility.
Mica is most suited for use in thermionic valve bridges, cathode ray tube assemblies, condenser plates, domestic elements, stove plates and washers built up to any thickness. In almost all these applications, mica is die-punched and used as such, or with a coating.
(Therefore making it a favored material for manufacturing capacitors for radio frequency applications. Mica is resistant to heat it is used in windows for stoves and kerosene heaters.)
Availability:
Mica deposits are found in India, Africa, Brazil, Madagascar, Sri Lanka and China.
The principal deposits of Mica in India are found in Bihar, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh.
