The replacement of sodium cations by calcium cations provides a pore diameter of 5a, corresponding to the 5a molecular sieve. Similarly, a diameter of 3a corresponds to the 3a molecular sieve and is obtained by replacing sodium with potassium cations type x : sodium aluminosilicate is built up different to type a providing approximately a 10adiameter, corresponding to the 13x molecular sieve. The replacement of sodium cations with calcium ones provides the 10x molecular sieves.type y : type y has the same crystal structure as that of type x, but it has a different chemical composition and is used essentially in the catalysis field
