Moonstone Gemstone (Hardness of 6 or 6.50)
The moonstone as suggested by the name it was believed that moonstone was formed by the frozen moonlight. This appealing gem is hard to find in its purest form and is becoming rarer. At times moonstones are carved in such a way, that they show man carved in the moon face. Moonstone has a hardness of 6 or 6.5. It is not preferred to store the moonstone in contact with other gemstones to prevent it from scratching. They are usually available in cabs. The available color are White, Orange, Honey, Gray and Chocolate etc. They are available in mm sizes and far sizes in shape of Round, Oval, Pear, Heart, Marquies, Trillion, Square, Octogun, Cushion, Checker Boards, Buff Tops, Cabs etc. Moonstone should be cleaned using a mild soap with a brush or scrub.
