The gemstone is very rarely found and is mined from different parts of brazil, mozambique, namibia, afghanistan, and russia. However, the rarity does not lead to rise in the price of the gem as it cannot be polished and used due to the same reason. Morganite can occasionally be found in large sizes, the largest being a 598.70-carat cushion-shape from madagascar and presently kept at display in the british museum.
