Magill forceps are a type of hand-held instrument used for airway management and intubation procedures. They are often used by emergency medical services (EMS). Some of their uses include: 

• Grasping tubes, such as catheters or endotracheal (ET) tubes, for insertion or extraction 
• Grasping obstructive objects to remove them from the airways 
• Packing the oral cavity after tracheal intubation to protect the airway from blood or secretions 
• Removing foreign bodies from the oral cavity
