Chemical Constituents

The principal constituent of Licorice is glycyrrhizin. It contains isoliquiritin and a glyceride which is 2.2 % that gets converted to liquiritin. It is also contains steroid and estrogen. Other constituents present in Licorice are glucose, sucrose, mannite, starch, asparagine, bitter principals, resins, a volatile oil and coloring matter.
