microcline type of feldspar and nepheline mineral. Non-consisting free slica ,high
alkaline and alumina , high melting capacity and low melting range are ideal
characteristics of nepheline syenite adjusting to the ceramic and glass industry.
This means that the mineral nepheline syenite consists higher alumina and alkaline
compared to typical felspar. Nepheline syenite is an important source of silica (%59-60),
alümina (%20-24 Al2O3) and alkali (% 8-10 Na2O, % 5-7 K2O). Nepheline syenite rock
consists of Nepheline, microcline and albite minerals.
Chemically low silica , high alkaline and miner logically non-consisting free silica in
nepheline syenite composition forms a glassy phase with low viscosity at low
temperature.
Moreover, high alumina in the composition increases the resistance of glassy phase
deformation and low deformation values are obtained despite high alkaline content.
Nepheline due to non-consisting free silica has a significant capability of reacting with
silica and resolving.
The high alumina and resolving capability of quartz in the composition of nepheline,
increases the durability by supporting mullite formation.
