We are a social enterprise, started in 2002 with a very low loan capital, under the Kudumbashree Mission of Govt of Kerala, as an individual women enterprise. Registered as MSME in 2008. We offer training in 220 job and enterprise skills, mainly women and young people. Like all others we were also struck by the Pandemic lock down (2020) and remained in limbo for sometimes. But we have explored a unique opportunity: We produced PPE Kits, Masks, Surgical Gowns, Ayurvedic Masks etc. to fight the Pandemic with involvement of > 5000 people, mainly women tailors, who had no job due to the Pandemic lock down. We also produced many millions of eco-friendly cloth bags - grocery bags (Kit bags) that carried the essential supplies to people during the lock down.
We work with more than 100 Govt departments/agencies for providing skill training and enterprise startup support. We market around 3000 craft products made by people trained by us including handicrafts (wood, natural fibres, textile/fabric – woven and non-woven, low cost cloth bags for shopping), coconut shell crafts, metal crafts, pottery and terracotta, eco-friendly toys, mementos, gifts, novelties, products for public events (biodegradable badges, decorations, dry flower bouquets, designer bouquets, garlands, bags, files etc.), wealth from waste products – floor mats, table mats, furnishings etc from textile/fabric wastes, waste to manure products (vegetarian and non-vegetarian wastes made into organic manure at source), enriched organic bone meal, organic seeds, organic saplings, Vriksha Ayurveda based non-chemical pesticides, herbal animal repellents (to guard against invading wild animals), Gowsiddha products for crop care, animal and human health care and many other useful products.
We have quality certifications (from June 2021): ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and International Product Quality Certification: CE (EU/EEC norms). We are registered with Craft Council (UK), Slow Food Foundation/Ark of Taste, Italy.
