Omeprazole Pellets

Omeprazole (a proton pump inhibitor) is used in treatment of ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger–Ellison syndrome. It is also used to prevent upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
Pellets form of Omeprazole or with its combination drugs fulfilled the purpose of oral controlled-release dosage forms having gastro resistant or sustained-release properties or the capability of site-specific drug delivery.
It disperse freely in the gastrointestinal tract, and consequently maximize the drug absorption, minimize local irritation of the mucosa by certain irritant drugs because of the small quantity of drug available in a single pellet, and reduce inter and intrapatient variability. The smooth surface & the uniform size of the pellets allow uniform coating not only for each pellet but also from batch to batch.
