Septo-optic dysplasia (sod), also recognized as de morsier syndrome, is a subtype of onh and ascends from the underdevelopment of the optic nerve, pituitary gland dysfunction and deficiency of the septum pellucid, which is a mid line region of the brain. Sod ascends from shortcomings during the embryological development of babies and studies show that onh might be connected to some gene defects as well as embryo exposure to infections. Along with this the deficiency of vision which is a characteristic symptom of onh, sod also elicits other symptoms such as pituitary deficiency, autistic behaviors, epileptic seizures, etc. Optic nerve hypoplasia stem cell is the treatment for such ailments.
