Optical Fiber Fusion Machine, Brand Name : Furukawa

The Furukawa S-173 Optical Fiber Fusion Machine is capable of SM (single-mode) fiber splicing and MM (multi-mode) fiber splicing by means of Arc Discharge. The optical fiber (after being inserted into the splicer) is subject to automated gap setting of fiber ends, measurement of misalignment of the fibers, and fusion splicing. After the splice is completed an estimated loss value is shown. There is a built in electric heater that allows for shrink tube reinforcement.
