Orange peel(Citrus recticulata, Rutaceae) is a peel of a shrub or small tree having flattened globose fruit with very sweet aromatic pulp and thin yellow-orange to flame-orange rind that is loose and easily removed; native to southeastern Asia.

Constituents and Active Compounds:
Peel contains 7.6 % citroflavonoids-citrin consisting of a mixture of hesperosiodes, naringoside and ecryodietyoside (flavonones). The limonoid glycosides are reported from the peel. Essential oil of leaves contains ocimene 17.1, linalool 11.4, citral B 49.3%, neral, geranial and limonene. The roots contain campesterol, stigmasterol, sitosterol, cholesterol and also xanthyletin. Some varieties contain the flavonoid naringin. The triterpenoids e.g. Limonine gives the intensely bitter taste to some citrus species.
