    Patchouli oil is derived from the leaves of the patchouli plant, which belongs to the Lamiaceae family of Plantae. The patchouli plant is closely related to other aromatic plants like lavender, mint, sage, etc. It is the native plant of India, and some of the other South Asian countries, whereas, now the plant grown in Asian (such as China, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.), as well as South American continent, including some part of Hawaii.

    Patchouli oil is a thick oil, comes in two colors, yellow, and brown, and gives an earthy strong pungent sweet odor. The patchouli oil has been used from ancient times. The oil was considered very valuable in those times because of the infinite number of benefits of it. In Egypt, it is said that King Tut ordered to bury 10 gallons of patchouli oil within his tomb.
