Palm Trap

Palm trap, is a bucket shaped container covered with a cap. Pheromone dispenser and weevil magnet are hung inside the palm trap by clamping/tying them on to the inner surface of cap. Holes provided on the cap and around the perimeter of the palm trap nearer the cap serve as entry points for the weevils.
How it works
Red Palm Weevils and Rhino Beetles are attracted by the pheromone lure and magnet hung under the cap inside the bucket, which are either tied to the trees at a height of about 1.5 meters or placed inside small pits dug in the soil, up to a level just below the perimeter holes. They enter the bucket through these holes, fall into the water placed in the bucket (can be mixed with a small amount of pesticide or food baits such as jaggery) and get killed.
