Panchagavya Diya

It is a tradition in India to use panchagavya for purification of atmosphere as well as mosquito repellent. Research on Cow dung by Dr. L. M. Gosal establishes that cow dung contains of all the antiseptic properties.
The source of wisdom of incense and Diya can be derived from the Rig Veda and Atharva Veda. In the Vedic scriptures, the Vedas have emphasized on the words “Gomaye Vasate Lakshmi” which implies that within the cow dung resides Goddess Lakshmi - the Goddess of Fortune. Cow ghee when poured on burning Panchagavya  produces phenomenal amount of beneficial gases that fight pollution effectively.
This Panchagavya composition not only promotes oxygen generation but also mitigates the pollution caused due to carbon compounds present in the environment. Directions for use :
Place the cotton wick at the protrusion provided in the diya, and then pour Cow ghee or alternately vegetable fat/oil in the cavity and then light the lamp
The left over ashes / bhasma can be used to clean the utensils or even as a bio fertilizer for improving soil fertility. Some people may even find the use of ashes in smearing on the forehead for religious purpose or to flush the drainage system.
