Pita Bread

Pita bread is a type of flat bread, which is slightly leavened and baked precisely in a tunnel oven at very high temperature. Much of Pita’s popularity in the western world is due to expanded use of pocket created during the process of baking for a type of sandwich. In addition to using Pita to scoop foods, people fill the pocket with with various ingredients to form a sandwich. These are also called Pita pockets or pocket Pitas.
