APPLICATION & PRINCIPLE:
Life of Coatings depends on various parameters which includes hardness. Testing of coating hardness  indicates the maximum. resistance the coatings can offer to external force. The process involves dragging of  a 1mm ball indented needle on a smooth, coated surface under varying load from 100gms. to 10 Kg.
DESCRIPTION AND CONSTRUCTION
: Consists of a smooth and linear sliding platform which moves under a 1mm ball indenter, with the required load under a fixed speed. The one side coated panel is fixed to the platform. The automatic versions operate on 230V, 50 Hz. 1 phase AC supply whereas the manual operates on a 9V single battery. The systems indicate scratch by means of a buzzer and indicator which turn on when the needle touches the base metal. The automatic systems additionally have a voltmeter to indicate the level of coating failure and automatically disengage the needle from the panel when returning to home position.   Test Panel size : 150 x 100 x 1mm
