Polyanionic cellulose is a kind of important water-solubility cellulose ether and usually applied as its sodium salt. It is white or slightly yellow powder, non-toxic and tasteless. Polyanionic cellulose can be dissolved in water, owns good heat resistance and salt tolerance, as well as strong antibacterial property. The mud fluid compounded by polyanionic cellulose owns good water loss control, ejection capability and high temperature tolerance. Polyanionic cellulose is widely used in oil drilling, especially in salt water based drilling fluids, seawater based drilling fluids and saturated-brine drilling fluids.
