• Properties : It is in a white crystals or powder form. Its odorless, tasteless and a weak acidic and toxic. The density of hexagonal crystal is 3.08. It is hygroscopic. It is slightly soluble in water, soluble in hydrochloric acid. Its solubility is slightly higher as the temperature gets higher. It is decomposed by heat to form potassium fluoride (KF) and silicon tetrafluoride (SiF₄). It is hydrolyzed in hot water to form potassium fluoride (KF), hydrogen fluoride (HF) and silicate acid (H2SiO₃).

• Usage : It can be used as wooden preservatives and insecticides, or to produce synthetic mica and opalescent glass. It can also be used as flux in metallurgy of magnesium and aluminum.
