Inositol Nicotinate BP, Form : Powder

Inositol Hexanicotinate (IHN)  is used for decreasing LDL (Low-density Lipoprotein) and increasing HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) in the body. The patients suffering from high cholesterol are expected to control the syndrome to the better extent.

• IHN plays a vital role in lowering:

§  Total cholesterol (TC),

§  Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol,

§  Very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol in the liver,

§  Apolipoprotein B and Triglycerides

o    Increasing

§  levels of HDL better than any other medication

• Inositol Hexanicotinate is used for dyslipidemia.
• Inositol Hexanicotinate (IHN) is  hexanicotinic acid ester of Inositol
• IHN consists of six molecules of nicotinic acid (niacin) with one molecule of inositol in the centre.

·         IHN is absorbed intact and hydrolyzed in the liver with release of free niacin and inositol

·         Slowly metabolized resulting in sustained increase in the level of free nicotinic acid in blood and plasma hence no flushing or pruritis. IHN is commonly known as NO FLUSH NIACIN.

·         IHN is used for Intermittent Claudication ( Leg pain during exercise due to poor blood flow)

·         IHN is also used for Raynaud Syndrome ( painful response to cold especially in the fingers & toes)

·         It can be offered as powder form or directly compressible granules or as a tablet form.
