The SC1000 measures the thickness and basis weight of plastic film and other non conductive materials such as nonwovens, paper and ceramic tape. This non contacting micrometer utilizes SolveTech’s proprietary capacitance based technology.  It allows for higher precision than a contact measurement, and it is great for material that are easily damaged or deform.
