Prelaminated MDF Board

MDF is an engineered wood product made using wood fiber, and a resin binder. The mixture of wood fiber and resin binder is subjected to high pressure and temperature conditions to form boards. MDF is extremely 'homogenous' as compared to plywood and natural wood.
MDF can be denser then plywood. The average density of MDF is 750 kgm3. Unlike natural wood MDF does not contains any knots or rings. The surface of MDF is extremely smooth. MDF provides excellent screw holding properties when screws are installed using a pilot hole. MDF is also extremely amenable to sawing, cutting, chiseling, routing, gluing, and other furniture making procedures. MDF has extremely high degree of dimensional stability. Because of such features MDF is gaining popularity amongst institutional furniture manufacturers.
