Psoriasis is a autoimmune inflammatory skin disease which is common, chronic, scaly rash that affects people of all ages (about 2% of the population). There is a genetic predisposition to psoriasis. it tends to run in families. Psoriasis is also influenced by many environmental factors.
It is not contagious and is not due to an allergy or an infectious disease but a life style induced disease. Psoriatic patients suffer from systemic disorders in which the immune system sends faulty signals that speed up the growth cycle process of the skin. Psoriasis Symptoms
Psoriasis signs and symptoms can vary from person to person but may include one or more of the following :

• Red patches of skin covered with silvery scales
• Small scaling spots (commonly seen in children)
• Dry, cracked skin that may bleed
• Itching, burning or soreness
• Thickened, pitted or ridged nails
• Swollen and stiff joints
