APPLICATION

Wherever there is a Belt Conveyor, a safety device is required. Pull Cord Wire Rope is a crucial component in the emergency stop system of conveyor belts, used in conjunction with Pull Cord Switches and run all along with conveyor to attach with the Pull Cord switches.

It enables quick and reliable manual shutdown of conveyors from any accessible point along the length of the belt. This system is widely used in mining, cement, steel, power plants, ports, and material handling industries, ensuring safety of personnel and equipment.

CONSTRUCTION

Pull Cord Wire Rope is designed for durability, flexibility, and resistance to environmental stress. Key construction features include꞉

• Material꞉ 06 x 07 construction with use of high-tensile, galvanized steel wire strands for strength and corrosion resistance. The wire is specially extruded for material handling plant use.
• Diameter꞉ Typically ranges from 05 mm to 06 mm.
• Coating꞉ PVC coating is applied for additional protection in corrosive or damp      environments.  The PVC coating also offers protection against ultra-violate light.
• End Termination꞉ Equipped with thimbles, eye hooks, turnbuckles, and clamps to ensure secure anchoring and proper tension adjustment (procured separately from local hardware store).

OPERATION

The Pull Cord wire rope is mounted on either side of the conveyor using anchor points and tensioning hardware. It is connected to the pull cord switch lever. When pulled from any point along its length꞉

1.     The rope exerts a mechanical force on the actuating arm of the Pull Cord Switch.

2.     This action triggers the internal switching mechanism.

3.     The switch then sends a signal to stop the conveyor immediately, activating safety alarms or interlocks if configured.

4.      After actuation, the switch must be manually reset to resume conveyor operation.
