pi refers to the perfusion index (pi), and the pi value reflects the pulse blood flow, i.e., the blood perfusion capability.the greater the blood flow, the greater the pulse component and the greater the pi.therefore, the measured site (skin, nails, bones, etc.) and the patient's own blood perfusion (arterial blood flow) will affect the pi value.since sympathetic nerves affect heart rate and arterial blood pressure (which affects pulse and blood flow), the body's nervous system or mental state also indirectly affects pi.therefore, the pi value will be different under different anesthesia conditions.
