It is also known as Tarvine, Red Spiderling, Horse Purslane, Red Hogweed, and Spreading Hogweed. The word Punarnava translates into something that revives the body and brings the youth back. It has been used in India in the ancient times and is highly effective. For treatment, the leaves, aerial part, and root of the plant are all used. The leaves of the plant are also commonly used as vegetables in many parts of India. The plant has tiny purple, white, carmine, or pink flowers growing all over it. There are two main varieties of this plant, red and white, and both are used for their medicinal benefits.
