PUNCHING SHEAR RESISTANT (PSR) STUDS

Punching Shear Resistant Studs or PSR Studs are a reinforcing studs welding to rails, and used around columns on traditional formwork constructed buildings. They are used to reduce the likelihood of Punching Shear forces, or the desire for the column to punch its way thru the slab due to the floor loading. Punching Shear Resistant Studs can reduce the need for heavy reinforcing bars around these high stress areas, and can remove the need for a 'Capital' altogether. (A capital is a large usually square, section of thickened floor around the column.
