Quartzite is a metamorphic rock formed from Sandstone. It is a very hard and strong rock, and finds its use in countless places within the construction industry. This natural stone has a very detailed crystalline structure, which grants it a slightly lustrous and very rich appearance.

The quartz grains that are present in abundance in sandstone recrystallize with the cements previously binding the stone, and form a distinct pattern of crystals locked at very tight angles close together. During the process, the original texture of Sandstone is destroyed as all the components are redistributed through the stone. Some cementing minerals migrate through the rock and form patterns of streaks and lenses, giving the Quartzite absolutely different look from the parent rock.

Since the crystals of Quartzite are very tightly packed, Quartzite acquires a very hard, angular surface. The stone is very strong and withstands heat and pressure without breaking or chipping. Quartzite never erodes or weathers because of its crystalline structure. As such, it does not hold layers of sand or soil on top of it either. This property is clearly visible in the bare, soil-less mountain tops that are formed out of this rock.
