QUARTZITEFormed when sandstone and quartz combine together under a great deal of heat and pressure, quartzite is an amazing material. Naturally strong, heat-resistant and hard to stain, it is an excellent choice for your countertops.
Due to the conditions under which it is formed, quartzite is actually harder than quartz. In its purest form, quartzite is white like marble, but it can have impurities in it that lead to incredible patterns and colors. Pure quartzite countertops will not etch with water or acid, however some surface etching is possible on impure varieties. To protect against staining or etching, make sure to seal your countertops yearly.
