Genesis of the rechargeable battery The original rechargeable batteries were manufactured with Nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd), but the technology soon switched over to use Nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) because cadmium is harmful to the environment. Eveready strongly believes in protecting the environment and manufactures environmentally friendly Ni-MH range of rechargeable batteries.
