Red Oxide is an inorganic compound which finds application for production of steel, iron, and other alloys. It is a red colored powdery pigment that can also be used for final polishing on metal jewelry & lenses. Also known as iron oxide, this compound has chemical formula Fe2O3 with molar mass of 159.69 g/mol. It is an FDA approved pigment for use in cosmetics industry. This compound has melting point range of 1,539-1,565 degrees Celsius with water insoluble nature. Red Oxide can be prepared industrially by a electrolyzing solution of Na2CO3 and inert electrolyte with iron anode.
