The wood gets its name “Red Sal” as the tree exhibits in a deep red color when cut. The tree is used as heavy weight bearing as this is another sturdy version of Sal wood. However it has to be protected from cracks and damages as exposure to air and atmosphere results in heavy cracking and warping.
