(s)-(+)-2-amino-1-butanol is a pharmaceutical intermediate. It is mainly applied in synthesizing ethambutol, the antituberculosis api. It is also the raw material for producing antimicrobial agents and uterine hemostatic agent.
The regular form of ethambutol is its hydrochloride. It is white crystalline powder. Ethambutol hydrochloride is an antituberculosis drug. It has a much stronger inhibitory action against mycobacterium tuberculosis than other bacteria. As a result, it does not have any cross tolerance with other antituberculosis drugs and thus is applied broadly in a variety of pulmonary tuberculosis and extrapulmonary tuberculosis.
