Safety Lock System

This Safety Lock System is a compact and highly efficient locking device. The system is employed for safety purpose; in passenger cage-winch etc. which are meant for taking persons to heights in high rising structures and chimney projects etc. The safety locks are fitted at the top of the cage along the steel wire rope and operable manually while coming down. In case steel wire rope/shilling breaks, this Safety Lock System will operate automatically and stop the cage in same position, until released. Its working will be one way i.e. while going upward, its breaks are free, but while coming downward, break is to be released by pulling the handles by small string, and cage can be stopped at any level.

Applications :

• Passenger cage is used to go up and down on height during construction of chimney and other high raising structures; for inspection etc
• To protect it from any accident of free fall, 2 nos. guide ropes are fitted on both sides of the passenger cage. The guide ropes passes through the safety locks, the person using the cage, slightly keep the lock’s handle pull downward. Both handles are generally connected by a plastic rope
• In case of failure of Winch brakes, damage of winch- motor gearings, braking of winch rope or any other fault, causing free fall of cage and may cause fatal accidents. To avoid this type of incidents/ accidents, the passenger cage is protected by fixing 2 nos. guide ropes (other than winch rope for up and down operations of the cage) and these safety locks are fitted on the top of the cage
• In case of failure of the winch rope/ brakes, the person inside the cage automatically (by Human tendency/ intentionally) takes off /away his hand from the pulled rope and thus the lock/ brakes will grip the guide ropes, and the cage will stop at the same height and position ; and thus probable accident is escaped
• In addition the cage can be stopped at any height for any inspection by applying the said brakes (i.e. just by releasing/ not pulling the lock handles)
• Thus it is a useful and necessarily to be installed on all passenger cage for safety purpose
• Alignment of fitment of these locks along the guide ropes is must
• Suitable counter weight should be fixed on guide ropes
• These locks should be replaced in case it is damaged, worn-out, or stopped proper grip on guide ropes
